LOL PAC Logo

The Land O’ Lakes Public Art Committee (LOL PAC) developed this prototype open-source Design Playbook to share a replicable model for small towns to build and sustain public art programs that engage artists and designers, schools, businesses, municipal partners, and community volunteers.

This Playbook highlights how a community collaborated on a Trash & Recycling Receptacle Project, addressing practical needs while creatively transforming public spaces.

Our Playbook offers communities an actionable guide for successful public art collaborations by providing a basic framework as a starting point.

We’re very interested in your feedback and questions. Please send them to [email protected]. And feel free to use and modify this Playbook template for your own needs. If you do, we’d love to know!

Public Art in Land O' Lakes on the Move

The Land O' Lakes Public Art Committee made its first appearance in the town's 4th of July Parade to celebrate its mission and share its current project.

The Committee’s mission is to contribute to the overall health and enrichment of Land O’ Lakes by strengthening creative collaboration and becoming a destination for public art.

Our town is home to numerous murals, sculptures and a musical playground.

Now we're focusing on recycling and refuse! The committee is working on a collaborative project with the Town and local students, artists and businesses to create metal trash and recycling receptacles for the downtown area, Musical Playground and Storybook Garden.  Seen here are members of the committee and volunteers, getting ready to march. The Trash/Recycle receptacles project was funded by the Town of Land O Lakes, Wisconsin Arts Board, Eagle River Cabinets, LOL Planning and Beautification, Ely Church Community Outreach, Gerber Automotive, and Northern Tile, and are expected to be installed this Fall.
